For World Refugee Day on 20 June (established in 2000), Eco Diario points to two film events in Madrid hosted by the NGO ACCEM (which provides assistance to refugees) and el Círculo de Bellas Artes (the Circle of Fine Arts). The latter will screen Children of Men (2006) as part of its feature on “Refugees in Cinema.” Also screening are The Secret Life of Words by Isabel Coixet, Geden die Wand by Fatih Akin, and Agua con sal by Pedro Perez Rosado.

Euskal Irrati Telebista: The 7th edition del Encuentro de Escuelas de Cine (International Film School) arrives in San Sebastian 25 and 26 September this year. Hosted by Donostia Zinemaldia (San Sebastian International Film Festival) and Tabakalera (International Contemporary Culture Centre of San Sebastian), the last year’s jury included Alfonso Cuarón as president.

Also, El Porvenir reports Robert Englund (a.k.a. Freddy Kreuger) wants Guillermo del Toro for the next Nightmare sequel after meeting at San Sebastian.  Meanwhile, El Mañana thanks Mexicans, not limited to the most familiar names, for showcasing their talents in international cinema in all aspects of production.
