Hollywood Reporter reports that Rodrigo García has begun work on his latest film Mother and Child, the second confirmed release from the three amigos’ (Alfonso Cuarón, Guillermo del Toro, and Alejandro González Iñarritu) new production company Cha Cha Cha. Filming in Los Angeles this coming winter, it “follows the intersecting lives of a 50-year-old woman, the daughter she gave up for adoption 35 years ago and a black woman looking to adopt a baby.” Casting is underway. This past Thursday marked the 40th anniversary of the Massacre of Tlatelolco. Alonso Fragua writes in La Jornada de Oriente about Mexico’s filmic memory of if. “The important thing is not to forget but to prevent incidents like those of October 2, 1968 from recurring.” Read more.
